Personal Information

The US-Japan Leadership Program (USJLP), operated by The US-Japan Foundation, is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your visits to this Website. USJLP only collects personal information from individuals who affirmatively request to receive e-mail or other information from us. This personal information is kept strictly confidential to the internal staff and agents of the US-Japan Foundation. We do not sell, rent or transmit personal information to other organizations or outside entities.

Electronic communications sent to info@usjlp.org may be retained and shared with internal employees or agents of the US-Japan Foundation as a means to continually improve this Website and the Program.

Website Data Collection and Use

Our web server tracks and collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as: browser type, language preference, referring site, and the time and date of each website visit. We also collect aggregate numbers of page hits in order to track the popularity of certain pages. USJLP analyzes all of this information in order to improve the value of our site. We do not gather, request, record, require, collect or track any Internet users’ personal information through these processes.

E-mail List Privacy

USJLP maintains a database of e-mail addresses provided to us by individuals who affirmatively request to be kept informed about the Program. We configure our list server software to refuse to divulge the email addresses of our list subscribers to anyone other than authorized, internal employees or agents of the US-Japan Foundation. However, we are not the author of this software, and are not responsible for any failures in the software to preserve subscriber anonymity.

Subscribers to our e-mail list may terminate their subscriptions via a link at the bottom of each email sent from info@usjlp.org.

Storage and Access

All personal information you provide to USJLP is secured on our server with restricted access. USJLP reserves the right to use agents, who are bound by strict confidentiality guidelines, to perform storage and processing functions. Only designated internal staff or agents who need to carry out legitimate business functions are permitted to view your personal data. Staff or agents who violate USJLP’s privacy policies are subject to disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.

Policy Changes

This policy will be revised or updated if our practices change, or as we develop better ways to keep you informed about them. If we decide to change this policy, we will post a new policy on our site and change the date at the bottom. Changes to the policy shall not apply retroactively. This policy was last revised on February 22, 2013.
