Upcoming Conference: Seattle 2021

Posted on Jul 25, 2020 - Nov 30, -0001

Important update: Due to COVID-19, the USJLP Seattle 2020 Conference has been postponed and will now take place as the USJLP Seattle 2021 Conference over July 3-10, 2021. As of June 2020, the Program expects a full roster for the Seattle 2021 Conference and does not expect to hold an application cycle in the fall of 2020. The Class of 2021 is expected to be officially announced in early 2021. Kindly note that plans for the Program’s 2021 recruiting and operations are contingent upon a number of factors tied to further and ongoing developments related to COVID-19. Related changes and updates will be reflected on this website as they are incurred.

American and Japanese Delegates selected to attend Seattle 2021 (scheduled for July 3-10, 2021) as their first conference will be between the ages of 28 and 42 as of the first day of the 2021 conference. Delegates are selected for their demonstrated leadership and achievement in their respective fields, with due consideration given to men and women from a broad spectrum of careers. These Delegates are expected to continue on and attend their second conference, tentatively scheduled to be held in Japan in 2022 (reschedule July 2022 dates TBA). Delegates who must defer their second year in 2022 will be given due consideration for participation in a future (i.e. 2024 or later) Japan conference, space permitting.

Newly selected Delegates to the Seattle 2021 conference will join second year Delegates who have successfully participated in a Japan conference. Tentatively scheduled experiences include a Lake Union cruise, Seattle Mariners game, and a daytrip to Mt. Rainier. Scott M. Johnson Fellows will join the Delegates on the last two days of the conference for an inter-class reunion.

Additional details about participation in USJLP conferences are outlined in the Conference Guidelines for Delegates.
